Increasingly Hysterical Bio Lessons

The biology lessons were on Thursday and Friday respectively. Steadily, I felt, it was getting more and more hysterical and funny. Especially, when the topic was something "controversial" - Sex Ed.

Okay, it started out with our Bio science teacher - Ms Jennifer Ting who is American educated. So, expect her to be much more open-minded (or horny, in not-so-polite terms). She came into class last week promising to bring us a condom for demo. And she did. She told the class to keep quite while she headed back to get some (how many does she have?) condoms. Before leaving, she asked my friend Zhao Hong to copy down names of those who talked on the whiteboard. And when she returned, if the class is noisy and there isn't a name on the board, she would punish Zhao Hong.

Our class, well, sabo-ed him, which was predictable. When we saw Ms Ting heading back, we made loud noises. In the end, to our amazement, the so-called "punishment" was to open the condom in front of the class.

Later on, she even commented, "I am running out of condoms. You guys know that Teachers' Day is coming, right? So, now you know what to get me? Buy me some condoms for teaching material for your juniors". At that, the whole class was stunned. We didn't expect a teacher to make such a comment. Yes, we get it - a joke. The class then laughed uncontrollably (you didn't see it wrong, it is "uncontrollably", not "uncomfortably") A joke coming from a female, a SINGLE female. America is THAT open-minded after all.

The following lesson on Friday was even worse! She posed a question to the class: What would you do if there is really a need for premarital sex? Adrian, ok, now don't get him wrong, he is just innocent and has a different mindset of his own... He said tentatively, "use erm... sex toys." The whole class just burst in laughter. Ms Ting was seen trying to control laughter, but when we all laughed, she followed too. And we thought she was going to scold Adrian, like any other teacher. But hey, I reminded myself again - AMERICAN EDUCATED. Ms Ting then said that sex toys is only used by girls, and that we misunderstood the question.

When we stopped laughing, she posed the question again, this time explaining what it means. Then, another friend said that "we could 'use our hands'", implying something of absolute obscenity. Once again, the class laughed. Ms Ting widened her eyes and stared in disbelief, but she laughed as well.

That's why I say, these Bio classes are getting more and more hysterical and crazy! Ms Ting is sort of fun in that way, because I really don't want another boring teacher that screws the whole class for these moments of fun and laughter. A teacher who breaks the lesson's monotony, one like Ms Ting is an ideal teacher. Rock on, Ms Ting!

It's finally over! I never thought I would be this happy ever again! This few months of rehearsals, the exceptionally hectic schedule of the last two weeks, ongoing class tests, the Project's Day Competition, my piano exams...... One could easily die from stress, not me, but "one".

The performance was actually a biography on our respected alumni cum ex-president, Mr Ong Teng Cheong. We had 5 one and a half hour performances to make, one for each day! Yeah, I am not complaining or what, but due to my usual unenthusiatic-ness in my CCA, I sort found it rather a waste of time for the rehearsals. I had to sit through a full rehearsal when I only come out for one/two scenes, which wasn't great - I had so much to do then, it was busy and crazy, those days.

But, I have to say, it was rather fun too. Despite my society's usual activities not really suiting my taste making up was rather fun. My friend and I were supposed to make-up for the actors. Turns out that he truly screwed up that everyone was reluctant to let him do the job. Jokes were cracked, the ones that REALLY bird (means the insult in a sarcastic manner, meant as a joke) people, which really brought us together.

The teachers, well, were having yeah.... lots of "fun" making up too, especially one of them, I won't mention her name though. She was particularly enthusiatic and on the last day, she pulled a few of us, (me, Shien Yang and Zhi Hao) to draw eyeshadows and eye lining, which was unnecessary for us calefe. As a result, I had erm... exceptionaly red eyeshadow, making me look like a opera singer. Plus the hairstyle the teacher styled for me. I kinda, you know, find it fashionble during the 80's. All in all, it made me look weird, weird, weird!

Now that it is all over, I am super happy and it took me a while to realize that I finally have nothing to do! Suddenly, I realized too that the Sec 4s are leaving. Not a bad thing, I don't think I like them much, which is ironic. I read a blog from a friend in Saint Nicholas'. They were actually extremely sad that the Sec 4s were leaving. But frankly, when our Sec 4s leave, I don't really care...
